Application and Essay Intensives
Our group intensives provide comprehensive support and guidance tailored specifically to the needs of rising senior students. Offered in a four or eight week option, the intensives cultivate an environment where students have the chance to collaborate closely with peers in small group settings which fosters a strong sense of community that serves as a powerful motivator. Our classes are designed to be short yet intensive, instilling a sense of accomplishment in students while simultaneously relieving stress and helping students to walk into their senior year ahead.
What Intensives Cover:
An overview of the college admission process with guidance to better understand how colleges review applicants and ways to stand out.
Identify extracurricular, leadership and volunteer involvement and the areas to highlight in your application. You’ll create an impressive resume to highlight your achievements, activities, and unique qualities that will go directly into your application.
Essay brainstorming and planning for personal statement and supplement essays under the direction of Mollie Moore, Essay Specialist.
Content and technical editing and review of personal statement and supplement essays.
Feedback on admission probability based on student’s existing list of colleges.
Overview of Teacher Recommendation requests, understanding which teachers to ask, when and how. We will help with organizing and executing this step.
Overview of grade reporting with assistance completing the Self-Reported Academic Record and/or Grade Reporting feature within college applications.
Completion of Common Application.

Application and Essay Intensives are comprehensive support programs designed specifically for rising senior high school students to navigate the college application process effectively. Intensives help students accoplish a lot in a short amount of time.

The program covers various aspects of the college application process, including college admission process overview, extracurricular and leadership identification for applications, essay brainstorming and planning, content and technical editing of admission essays, teacher recommendation assistance, grade reporting assistance, and completion of the Common Application.
Duet to time constraints, students will not receive feedback regarding building a college list, major and career exploration, campus visits, admission interviews or financial planning.

The intensives are open to rising senior students and are intended for students to accomplish a lot in a short timeframe. Students should be prepared to work hard and receive a big reward.

Our intensives are led weekly by Calli Christenson, a season college counselor with over 15 years of experience helping students through the various components of the college planning process. Our essay specialist, Mollie Moore, teaches the essay portion of the intensives and provides editing and feedback on students’ essays.

Yes, through the intensives, students will fully complete their Common Application and personal statement essay. Additionally, students in the 8-week intensive will complete supplement essays while also finalizing other important steps in the admission process (teacher recommendation requests, SRAR, etc)

The four week intensive will guide a student through completing the Common Application and personal statement (650-word essay). The eight-week option takes students several steps further and covers supplement essays, teacher recommendation requests, and completing the SRAR.

Typically, 3-8 students are in an intensive group.

Intensives are offered beginning the first week of each month (April, May and June).

Intensives meet weekly and are 1-2 hours long. Class day and time will be set based on attendees availability.

Intensives meet weekly via Zoom. Students are required to have a computer with video capabilities to participate.

To accommodate students’ schedules, all sessions are recorded and students will have access to each session through December of 2024.

Yes! All intensive participants will meet at least once for a “bonus session” following the August 1st opening of the 2024-2025 Common Application. This session(s) will be intended to help students copy and paste essays, complete final steps in the My Colleges tab and finalize all information in the live application platform.

By completing the intensives, students will gain valuable insights into the college application process, receive personalized guidance on creating standout applications and essays, and position themselves as proactive and prepared candidates for college admission. Most importantly, students will enter senior year ahead and with less stress about the college application process.

The 4-week intensive is $800 and the 8-week intensive is $1600. Payment plans are available upon request.

If space is available, students who complete a 4-week intensive can opt to add on four more weeks to complete the 8-week intensive.
